Washington DC, June 18th 2009 – Inspector IT announces the immediate availability of its latest DotNetNuke Module, DNN Universal Tag Cloud. A live demonstration of the module can be found here.

Inspector IT’s DNN Universal Tag Cloud™ makes your data work harder for you by tapping into your existing DotNetNuke search index to generate highly customizable semantic tag clouds. Tag Clouds are a great way to provide your web users with stylish Web 2.0 navigation components and are highly efficient when it comes to enhancing your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) efforts.
With Inspector IT’s DNN Universal Tag Cloud™ you can create multiple tag clouds, each customized to semantically depict your content listed alphabetically or by importance. With DNN Universal Tag Cloud™, creating and customizing content tag clouds that enable your users to navigate to the right collection of information has never been easier, setup and configuration is snap!

DNN Universal Tag Cloud has been released and is available on Snowcovered and at the DotNetNuke Marketplace.

A few product reviews have already been sighted in the blogosphere; the response thus far is extremely positive. we look forward to improve on the product and publish an aggressive road map that would ensure multiple releases scheduled through the end of 2009, says Inspector IT CEO Antonio Chagoury

A few quotes from the previously mentioned blog sightings reveal that the functionality exposed by the DNN Universal Tag Cloud has been missing from the DotNetNuke ecosystem and is a welcome addition to Inspector IT’s collection of modules:

A missing “Web 2.0″ element from DotNetNuke is the now-ubiquitous Tag Cloud. Their new Universal Tag Cloud module does most everything you’d expect neatly and easily, says Mamlin of Eguana Solutions.

If you need a tag cloud that has only positive impact on a DNN site, and uses existing technology, this module is definitely the standard one to use, and sets the bar very high. I can already see all kinds of uses for this module on various types of sites, says Will Strohl of RezHub.com.

Until DNN core blog module adds this in this is a good alternative to rolling your own, which can be a pain. The best part is you can make clouds for any modules that tie into the search provider. So if you are using Ventrian’s articles module you could now easily make a tag cloud for all your articles using this module. Lots of possibilities and lots of ways to use it, says Dylan Barber of CodeMyPantsOff.com

We have been at it for a couple of months, but it was well worth the wait. We have added a few nice features that we are sure you will love and will make you wander how you were able to live without it for this long.

Additionally, we improved the manageability of the module by separating the Map Points Management interface from the Map’s Settings. The UI is much less cluttered as a result of this change.

I could go on writing pages explaining all the changes, so instead, here is a bullet list of the changes and fixes in this new version: (Make sure you check out the demo too!)

Added GeoRSS support

Added a point attribute to allow you to load the location’s weather conditions in the balloon tip by default

Added settings to allow you to manipulate the balloon tip including, background color, size, border, border color & style

List of points is now a floating window, which you can move, close, minimize and restore

Fixed some minor FireFox rendering issues

Fixed issue when an apostrophy is entered in both the title and description of each point

Much more!

Google has officially turned off the Map API v1 in the first week of November.
This controversial move has caused a lot of disruptions to services built around that version and you will notice by reading blogs and community news groups that a lot of people are left unhappy.
Moreover, it seems that Google also miscalculated the risks involved so much that by turning version 1 off their GeoCoding service also seized to function properly, according to news sources.

Inspector IT’s popular GoogleMap module for DotNetNuke was also based on the Map API v1 and is currently not functional.
We are working hard on an upgrade to Map API v2 which will be distributed to all our customers as soon as a public release is available.

Meanwhile, if you have purchased the GoogleMaps module, Inspector IT is offering a FREE version of the other popular mapping module, Virtual Earth*.
To get your free replacement please use the contact form located here.

Recently Inspector IT released a new DotNetNuke module utility that enables webmasters easily deploy a Mac-like "fish-eye" style menu toolbar, DNN DockMenu.

This new member of our productivity suite of modules for DotNetNuke was very well received and adopted, so well that requests for new features came pouring in.
While we were not able to satisfy every request in the short time it took to release a patch we are working hard to meet everyone’s expectations.

This release version 1.1 hosts the following enhancements and fixes:

Safari browser support, for both the Mac and PC platforms

Provides more granular control over the positioning of the menu. It can now be positioned anywhere relative to the container or page with pixel accuracy

Provides the ability to turn on or off the toolbar background (basically rendering it as transparent)

Ability to show the menu’s title once moused over

Includes minor usability improvements related to the overall management of the module

The module is available on the DotNetNuke Marketplace as well as Snowcovered.
